Jobsearch Advice

So you're looking for a new job. How are you going about it?
Clarity of thought is vital in this area. You need to know certain facts and be sure of yourself. Sample questions to ask:
  • Do you know what role in what industry you're looking for?
  • What physical location do you want to work in?
  • What salary or rate do you want, and what would you accept?
  • Do you want to work for a small company, or a multinational?
  • Have you created a project that's trackable, so you know where you've applied, when and what (if any) feedback you've gotten?
  • Will a given job/company/industry give a secure long term role?
Write the answers down as this will help you with the best selection of your new role.

New Job Project

At mynewcv.ie we've created a sample jobsearch project in MS Excel that we can email to you for free. This tool will allow you to track and trace all of your job applications, what stage you're at, and what actions need to be taken next.
Please email info@mynewcv.ie quoting "New Job Project" and we will send this free tool to you to help with your search.

Interview Preparation

Once you have the interview confirmed, there are some things you must know!

  • Know precisely where you're going and exactly how to get there. Also, how long it might take at the agreed time and date.
  • Know the names and titles of the interviewees, also where these people sit in the organisation compared to you should you accept an offer.
  • Know the process involved. Is it a three stage interview, a "one and done", will there be Personality Profiles etc.
  • Know the format. Will it be a straight panel based interview, a Competency Based Interview, is there a technical test involved?
  • Know the company. Learn as much as you can about the relevant market and prepare some questions that demonstrate this knowledge.
  • Know that you must dress appropriately and be at least ten minutes early.

If you have specific questions about your upcoming interview or interviews, please feel free to contact info@mynewcv.ie and we'll be happy to help.
